Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 8, 2026

This policy explains what information Hear Me Now collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Hear Me Now is used by children and adults, and accounts are created and managed by adults. So throughout this policy, information about a child is provided and controlled by a responsible adult.

Who we are

Hear Me Now LLC (“Hear Me Now,” “we,” “us”) operates Hear Me Now, an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app for nonverbal children and adults. It is a general-audience product. Accounts are created and managed by adults, such as parents, caregivers, clinicians, or the adult users themselves. You can reach us any time at hello@hearmenow.fyi.

Information we collect

We collect only what the app needs to work for the person using it:

  • Account details: the adult account holder’s email, name, and role, and a securely hashed password. Billing identifiers (a Stripe customer and subscription reference) are stored. Card details are entered directly with our payment processor and never reach our servers.
  • Profile of the person who uses the app: first name, date of birth, any diagnosis the adult chooses to add (health-related), appearance preferences, and grid and voice settings.
  • Communication content: the personal vocabulary (words and labels such as the names of family, pets, and foods), custom photos used as grid tiles, and, if you choose to set one up, a family member’s recorded voice sample.
  • Setup conversation: a transcript of the guided onboarding, including what an adult tells us about the person, used to build the starting vocabulary.
  • Usage: which words are tapped and the sentences spoken, with timestamps, so caregivers and clinicians can see how communication is going.
  • Clinician content: invitations, goals, and progress notes created by an invited clinician.

How we use information

We use this information to provide the communication grid and speech, to personalize the vocabulary and voice, to let caregivers and invited clinicians collaborate, to handle billing, and to send account and security messages. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

AI processing

Some features are delivered with the help of third-party AI providers. In each case the information is shared only to provide that feature, not for advertising, and we make no claims about these providers using it to train their models:

  • Anthropic (Claude) receives the setup conversation, to guide onboarding and suggest vocabulary.
  • Deepgram receives onboarding audio, to convert speech to text.
  • ElevenLabs receives the text to be spoken and, if you set up a family voice, the recorded voice sample, to generate speech.
  • Google Gemini generates generic illustration art from non-personal prompts. It receives no personal information about you or the person using the app.

Third-party service providers

We rely on a small set of vendors to run the service. They process information on our behalf, only as needed to provide their part of it:

  • Supabase: our database, accounts, and file storage (system of record).
  • Vercel: hosts the web app.
  • Railway: runs the voice relay. Audio and text pass through in memory and are not stored there.
  • Anthropic, Deepgram, and ElevenLabs: the AI features described above.
  • Google Gemini: illustration art from non-personal prompts.
  • Resend: sends and receives our email.
  • Stripe: subscription billing. It receives the adult account holder’s name and email, and handles card details directly.

Data storage and security

Information is stored with Supabase in the United States. Access is controlled by authentication and per-account security rules, so one account cannot see another’s data. Custom photos and voice recordings are kept in private storage reachable only through short-lived, signed links, and setting up a family voice requires explicit consent. Information is encrypted in transit (TLS). Hear Me Now is not a HIPAA-covered service and we do not claim HIPAA compliance.

On a phone or tablet, the app keeps a private copy on the device so the grid keeps working without a connection. This copy lives in the app’s private on-device storage and includes the current session, the cached vocabulary, and cached tile photos and speech audio. Signing out clears it.

Data retention and deletion

We keep information for as long as the account is active, with no fixed expiry, and remove it when an account is deleted or on request. To delete an account, delete specific information, or ask for a copy of what we hold, email us at hello@hearmenow.fyi and we will take care of it.

Children's privacy

Hear Me Now is a general-audience tool used by both children and adults. Accounts are created and managed by adults, and any information about a child is provided and controlled by a responsible adult, such as a parent, caregiver, or clinician. We do not knowingly let children create their own accounts. A responsible adult can review, correct, or delete a child’s information at any time by contacting us at hello@hearmenow.fyi.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information, or to provide a copy of it. Email hello@hearmenow.fyi and we will respond. If you manage the account for another person, you can exercise these choices on their behalf.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will take reasonable steps to notify account holders.
